KAROLINA MALM

Dancer / Researcher / Contributor

Karolina Malm is 35 years old and grew up in the deep forests of Värmland, Sweden.  As long as she can remember she has had a strong connection to Nature.

At a young age she became interested the native tribes of the world, and felt a very strong connection especially to the tribes of the American Continent. She felt strongly that she was missing a piece of the big puzzle and promised herself that she wouldn’t stop searching for it until she had found it. Years passed by and she came to realize that there were a lot of pieces to put together to see the whole perspective of her life mission.

Over the years she has studied creative writing and media, public health science, medical anthropology, anatomy, physiology, nutrition and different therapies as Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Acupuncture, Reflexology, Reiki and the Bach Flower Remedies.

She has a passion for natural medicine, healing, yoga and permaculture, as well as for ceremonial dancing.

She has lived in many places, with many different cultures, and has learnt the gift of adapting quickly to new places and people.  She has worked close to the Aymara and Quechua people in Bolivia where she lived and worked for 6 months. The last 7 years of her life she spent living in the Mayan city of Palenque in southern Mexico.

During this time she helped out during numerous sweatlodge ceremonies (temazcals) and has also been an active member of the Ceremonial Aztec Dancegroup, “Huitzilopochtli”, participating during ceremonies in many ceremonial places of Mexico.

In 2013 she opened up a Holistic Center in Palenque called “Casa Shanti”. She has also participated in several “Feria de Terapias Alternativas” with a group of therapists in the mountain city of San Cristobal de las Casas.

Since summer 2015, she returned to Sweden to reconnect to her roots. She met Rowan during The Flower Drum at Shambala Gatherings in September 2015 and absolutely loved her work, and she has been an active dancer of Spiderflower since then.
