SANDRA FALKEBORN

Dancer / Researcher / Contributor

My name is Sandra Falkeborn, I am a sculptor and ceramicist artist.

My ancestry is Swedish and from my research I have found that we come mainly from the mid-south of Sweden.  This where I have also grown up, and lived when not away travelling.

In my artistic education I have one year basic Arts and Crafts at Vårdinge By Folkhögskola (2014/15), and two year Ceramic Art, also at Vårdinge By Folkhögskola (2015/17).  I also have a BA Hons from 2013 in Social Science from Mälardalens Högskola, but changed my academic career to an artistic one as that is where my energy and focus thrives.

Now my workspace is located in a museum area in the city of Södertälje where I am part of a small collaborated studio of ceramic artists and pottery.

As an artist, I am drawn to experiment with clay in different shapes and how to combine it with other materials like glass and sand for example.  I like to use the raw expression of the clay.

I have danced with Spiderflower: Contemporary Earth Dance since 2015 and have been participating with The Flower Drum, Evening and Day Dances during 2016, Being Human: (Or the Vulnerable Magician) foundation course and The Ongoing Group for Stockholm 2017.

I have gained great results in my art and body movement. The dance form made me curious about ceramics and sound, in my own time I have been exploring how I can use ceramics for creating various sound, from rattles to resonance.

My current ceramic work is focused on ceramic percussion and abstract sculptures.  Some of which showing at an art exhibition at Katrineholm during December 2017.
